A golf training video...

Forget the rest, this is the best.

If you happen to have a golf training video of yourself and you are quite happy with your swing, watch it over and over again just before your next game. It is important to imagine or remember, as you are watchiong, that you hit a great golf shot with this swing.

I do this often and it really does work well.

The opposite scenario where you have a swing that makes you feel quite disgusted with yourself has a very negative effect. These days, I immediately throw those ones away.

Over the years, I have had quite a few collegues analyse my swing and they all gave the same useless, fault finding feedback. I used to thank them and go work on the array of faults they had eagerly pointed out.

I am not criticising them but there were big mistakes being made and I feel that a video training lesson is almost always destructive for most amateurs. They look at themselves and immediately think, boy do I look awkward.

It doesn't really help to have your awkward swing tutted at and more or less condemned as being pretty hopeless. I couldn't get the critical commentary out of my head when I was watching re-runs.

Two years ago I started using my four finger grip drill to improve my swing and it always produces a video clip that has great smoothness and movement. The fact that I also hit the ball surprisingly well was another huge bonus. Take a look at the drill in this golf lesson video and you'll see what I mean.

Once again, (to view this golf training video in a larger screen, click the onscreen 'YouTube' logo and when the new page opens, click the enlarge symbol, which is furthest right on the video toolbar).

I just put this short video on repeat mode and let it run and run. As I have done this often, I am getting better at feeling the buttery impact, seeing the wonderful ball flight, hearing the soft click of titanium rubbing against a surlyn covered ball and tasting the success of the process.

I have written plenty on his drill on other pages and go into some intricacies on my private member page. I hope you can adopt these habits and enjoy the same success I have had using them.
