I would class this lesson as being up to the standard of a PGA golf tour lesson. We have talked enough about various mental changes but it is now time to put them into practice on the golf course. You have already read many pages on this web site about differing mental approaches to this game.
This is a very important step to take and believe me it works wonders. The PGA golf tour lesson is more about getting into the state known as being in the zone. This starts on the driving range and is continued on the course. The zone is easiest to drop into on the range, so we will start there.
If you play at a course that does not have such a facility then the first tee will have to do. I am however going to assume you are on the range. I like to have at least 15 minutes for this and will start by having a little light and hearty conversation with my partners for that day’s play.
It is quite important for me to build a rapport with them and I am always surprised how a couple of friendly exchanges can get them to be more ideal companions for the day. Let’s face it we have all had those lunatics who belong in a nightmare accompanying us. We do not want one of them, do we? So keep it light and act as if you do not have a care in the world

get the feeling for the desired centrifugal force that it gives. When I use this grip, nobody ever notices. The only comment I ever get is, “your swing seems to be getting smoother by the day.”
Once I feel this smoothness myself, I will move on to my normal grip and bump a few nine irons out there. For the last five minutes before going to the first tee I would hit about 5-10 drives and accept the shape of shot that I have been dealt on that particular day. I do however make sure my body monitor has been activated.

I like to have another five minutes on the first tee with my playing partners and put in a little more work on the rapport. Don’t forget to create the aura that you do not have a care in the world. I like to think of myself as being someone like the character Harrison Ford plays in ‘Working Girl’. He has this aura in many of his films but when it comes to performing he has a strong serious side.
It is now important for me to keep up this persona except for the 15 seconds or so that I put on my game face from the start of my pre-shot routine until my ball has left the club face. That’s when I drop in a little serious stuff.

We have all experienced the feeling or taste of success or failure. I personally can feel and taste both quite distinctly but I condition myself to activate only success. The German word for success is ‘Erfolg’ which is an anagram of ‘golfer’ and I for one think this is a wonderful coincidence as I teach this technique in Germany.
I have noticed that when I have had success, I experience a warmness and richness in my throat that spreads down towards my naval. However first things first, let’s consider situations where you can experience this and then learn how to recapture it. My favourite method is playing catch with Leela. I always enjoy it and get mountains of this warmness and richness that I am seeking. The more often I experience this the easier I find it is to recapture it at will.
If you have ever thrown a dart, swatted a fly, knocked over skittles, caught a ball, kissed a pretty girl (or boy), received a present or passed an exam, you will have felt and tasted success. All you have to do is heighten your awareness at these times and save the feelings.
Now we will consider the magic that can be accomplished by using this PGA golf tour lesson. Your body and soul have learned to take a dip in this pool of success at will. During our pre-shot routine, we activate this and continue the feel until the shot is completed. It’s being able to accomplish this that creates the magic.
You have captured this feeling of success and guess what, that is exactly what you get. Your fear levels drop to non-existent, as it is difficult to feel both. Let face it they are opposites. Just taste and feel it before and during the shot and the magic just happens.
This PGA golf tour lesson is without doubt the secret to moving on to the ‘next manifesting plane’ and you know what, it is so satisfying and also so-so easy to accomplish. Leela and I can achieve wonder results with this technique but do you know what, it doesn’t compare to the joy we both get from both the game and life itself.
